2022 Summer Program Facilitator and Lead Teacher Positions

Summer programs offered in Newport and Middletown will include a menu of expanded learning, experiential activities including daily physical activity, and weekly field trips in the community for students who will attend grades 1-5 during the 2022-2023 school year.
Newport Summer Learning Academy (SLA): July 5th to August 12th, 2022 at Thompson Middle School.

SLA Program Facilitators Schedule: Mon-Thurs, 11:30-3:30 and Friday, 8:30-3:30, 22.5 hrs/wk.
Middletown Summer Learning Academy: July 5th to July 29th, 2022 at Gaudet Middle School.
Lead Teachers Schedule: 8:00-4:00 pm, Monday – Friday, 40 hrs/wk or 11:30-4 M-Th, 8-4 F, 36 hrs/wk.

 

SLA Program Facilitators and Lead Teachers will provide a variety of enrichment activities that build upon lessons and skill-building done during the morning portion of the day. Activities must allow students opportunities for independent learning and hands-on experiences. SLA Program Facilitators and Lead Teachers should feel comfortable with open-ended activities and changing planned activities based on student interest and ability. SLA Program Facilitators and Lead Teachers will also be expected to attend a weekly field trip (usually Fridays) and/or water activities with their class.

Applicants should have a degree in education or a related field and experience in youth development and in facilitating activities with school-age students, preferably elementary.

Priority will be given to current NFCOZ Lead Teacher/Program Facilitator staff and to SLA and EL Teacher applicants.
