Job Description:


POSITION TITLE: Associate Director, Career & Technical Trainings and Special Programs


DEPARTMENT: Business Solutions and Partnerships/Economic and Business Development


REPORTS TO: Director of Business Solutions and Partnerships


POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Business Solutions and Partnerships Instructors and other staff, as assigned by the Director.


STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Associate Director of Career and Technical Trainings and Special Programs is responsible for, but not limited to, the development, implementation, and management of a broad collection of strategic Business Solutions and Partnerships’ (BSP) career and technical trainings and programs. The Associate Director will plan and deliver programming in alignment with industry and community needs and workforce gaps, as well as academic and career pathways.




• Develop and manage the Career and Technical Training and Special Programs portfolio, including but not limited to: short-to long-term training, professional development, credentialing, Credit for Prior Learning based projects, stackable credentials, bridging, apprenticeships, and accelerated credit programs.

• Develop and maintain a Business Solutions Instructor talent bench in adherence with college policies and procedures that provides staffing for a wide range of course topics and programs via various modalities, such as virtual, hybrid or in-person.

• Compile and maintain comprehensive information regarding instructors, clients, students, funders, and program partners.

• Provide fiscal oversight for the Career and Technical Training and Special Programs budget; provide detailed budget information to the Director of Business and Solutions Partnerships.

• Conduct assessments to evaluate labor market information and analyze workforce trends to ensure program portfolio meets market demand and specific market and partner needs.

• Oversee Business Solutions and Partnerships participant management, including but not limited to registration, attendance monitoring, reporting, and participant and program progress and outcomes.

• Develop and implement a strategic communication plan for outreach and recruitment.

• Develop articulation agreements with the academic programs, in collaboration with the Director of Business Solutions and Partnerships and Academic Affairs.

• Manage outreach to external partners and community, including but not limited to, industry/private sector businesses, economic development and workforce organizations, and educational institutions.

• Review and update existing BSP portfolio and utilize formative and summative evaluations for constant review of course materials and instructor quality.

• Identify and develop grant and funding proposals in partnership with the Office of Grant Development.

• Coordinate and partner with BSP Corporate Services team to explore partnership programs between existing corporate curriculum and corporate instructors.

• Use Bristol’s digital communication tools, to include but not limited to; Bristol email, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other Bristol social media tools, to advance the college’s social media outreach and brand to internal and external constituents.

• Focus on customer service best practices when working with Bristol community members, including faculty, staff, and students.

• Focus on the Commonwealth’s Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.

• Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that supports the professional growth of staff while fostering a commitment to service excellence.

• Perform other duties as assigned.








NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.


• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.

• Minimum of three years of related experience, which may include development of training programs and management of training schedules or instructors.

• Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills.

• Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage work priorities and assignments in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

• Demonstrated ability to perform duties with minimal direction, including effective problem-solving skills.

• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 programs, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to work nights and weekends as business needs require.

• The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.

• Reliable transportation in order to travel to and from meetings, trainings, or campus and community locations as required.




• Minimum of a Master’s degree preferred.

• Degree in field related to education, business, and/or management preferred.

• Minimum of three years of experience in the development of career and technical trainings, professional development and special training programs, management of multiple diverse training schedules, and/or management of multiple part-time instructors with diverse portfolios.

• Demonstrated experience with labor market and business assessments to shape curriculum and trainings.

• Demonstrated experience with the development of training programs in partnership with business leaders in private, public, and nonprofit organizations.

• Demonstrated experience developing future projected career pathways, with a focus on underserved populations.

• Demonstrated experience working in higher education, with a preference for community college experience.

• Demonstrated proficiency with Banner and Argos; as well as Customer Relations Management (CRM) platforms, such as Salesforce.

• Demonstrated knowledge and consistent experience in using varied social media outlets on behalf of a business or organization.

• Robust understanding and demonstrated inclusion of access, equity, and student success practices.

• Ability to speak a language in addition to English.

POSITION STATUS: This is a full-time, non-unit position with benefits, some nights and weekends required.


SALARY: Hiring salary $60,000 – $70,000, commensurate with education and experience.
