Job Description:

 

POSITION TITLE: Director, National Offshore Wind Institute

 

DEPARTMENT: Economic and Business Development/National Offshore Wind Institute (NOWI)

 

PRIMARY LOCATION: New Bedford (National Offshore Wind Institute, 198 Herman Melville Blvd)

 

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Economic and Business Development

 

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Associate Director, NOWI and other staff as assigned

 

STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

 

The Director, National Offshore Wind Institute (NOWI) provides leadership, accountability, and budgetary oversight of the NOWI and its associated programs, facilities, staff and equipment, among other duties. The Director will be responsible for day-to-day oversight of all training-related operations. This individual will be responsible for promoting the NOWI regionally and nationally as a leading offshore wind institute.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Ensure accountability for Global Wind Organization (GWO) accreditation for the facility and GWO training certifications; ensure NOWI is equipped with proper GWO certified trainers, equipment, and accepted GWO curriculum.

• Oversee the NOWI facility, including but not limited to equipment, simulators, facility related assets and other items for the training programs.

• Ensure accountability for the facility’s equipment, including but not limited to management of purchasing, installation, and maintenance.

• Strategically plan for NOWI trainings and programs; ensure each training or program is in alignment with accreditation standards.

• Responsible for business development and industry recruitment; ensure trainings are in alignment with industry demand.

• Hire, supervise, develop, and lead assigned staff. Conduct regular performance evaluations to ensure continuous improvement and identify potential opportunities for growth. Work closely with Human Resources to develop staff capabilities and expectations.

• Develop the projected expenses, revenues and schedules to ensure the facility is operating at capacity and within NOWI expectations.

• Working collaboratively with the Vice President of Economic and Business Development, develop and manage the NOWI budget; monitor, track and organize expenses.

• Prepare reports for the Vice President of Economic & Business Development related to NOWI operations.

• Participate in conferences and client site visits as needs dictate.

• Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that supports the professional growth of staff while fostering a commitment to service excellence.

• Demonstrate a sense of professionalism and consistently reflect Bristol’s core values while interacting with members of the Bristol community.

• Focus on the Commonwealth’s Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions and work collaboratively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.

• Use Bristol’s digital communication tools, to include but not limited to; Bristol email, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other Bristol social media tools, to advance the college’s social media outreach and brand to internal and external constituents.

Requirements:

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.

 

• Minimum of an Associate degree.

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a leadership, operational and/or management role.

• Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills.

• Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage priorities and assignments in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

• Demonstrated ability to perform?duties with minimal direction, including effective problem-solving skills.

• Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 programs, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as virtual meeting platforms.

• Reliable transportation in order to travel to and from meetings, trainings, or campus and community locations as required.

• The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.

• Ability to work nights and weekends as business needs require.

• COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: As of January 2022, candidates for employment should be aware that Community College students, faculty, and staff are required to be fully vaccinated. Accordingly, initial employment is dependent upon receipt and verification of full vaccination status records; details of how to fulfill vaccine record verification requirements will be provided during the hire and onboarding process.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.

• Demonstrated experience with management or supervision of a training facility.

• Demonstrated experience with program accreditation.

• Demonstrated knowledge of Global Wind Organization (GWO), OPITO (Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization) or related industry safety.

• Robust understanding and demonstrated inclusion of access, equity and student success practices.

• Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

POSITION STATUS: This is a full-time, non-unit position with benefits, some nights and weekends may be required.

 

SALARY: Hiring salary $95,000 – $105,000, commensurate with education and experience.
