POSITION TITLE: Clerk IV – Advising & Success (Part-Time)
PRIMARY LOCATION: Fall River, with occasional travel to all Bristol campus locations.
REPORTS TO: Associate Director, Advising & Success

WORK SCHEDULE: 18.5 hours per week; Final schedule to be discussed upon hiring.
POSITION STATUS: This is an AFSCME part time, state funded, unit position without benefits.
SALARY: $24.05 per hour
STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Advising and Success department is comprised of Academic Advising, Coaching, and the Success Initiative. The department seeks to provide a relentless welcome to their students; prioritizing relationship building, motivational support, and accurate, timely advising.
Directly serve students and their families in their successful educational pursuits at Bristol Community College. Support the day-to-day operations of the department, including responding to inquiries from students and families and serving as a liaison across college departments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serve as a point of contact for students and families, providing high quality customer service through professional communication and problem-solving skills.
• Assist the Administrative Assistant in managing the daily operations of a busy, complex department in an office environment.
• Assist in managing the department email and phone calls.
• Schedule student advising appointments.
• Connect students to campus resources.
• Utilize college systems in daily work, such as Banner, ARGOS, Degree Works, Slate, EAB Navigate, and Microsoft Office 365.
• Provide administrative support to the Director and Associate Directors of Advising & Success.
• Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in office work, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
I. A diploma as evidence of graduation from the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
II. A diploma as evidence of graduation from a course other than the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school or possession of a Massachusetts high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for a maximum of eight months of the required experience.
III. A diploma for completion of a one-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
IV. A diploma for completion of a two-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required experience.
*Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
NOTE: Educational substitutions will only be permitted for a maximum of two years of the required experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate’s degree or higher.
• Demonstrated experience working in a higher education setting.
• Working knowledge of Banner, Argos, Degree Works Microsoft 365, and/or EAB Navigate
• Ability to speak a language in addition to English
