POSITION TITLE: Special Programs Coordinator, Parenting Pathways Program (Part-Time)
DEPARTMENT: Wraparound Services/Student Services and Enrollment Management
PRIMARY LOCATION: Fall River, with occasional travel to all Bristol campus locations.
REPORTS TO: Director, Wraparound Services
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Student staff as assigned
POSITION STATUS: This is an MCCC part time, state funded, unit position without benefits.
ANTICIPATED START DATE: ASAP
SALARY: $32.64 per hour
STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Special Programs Coordinator oversees the operations of the Parenting Pathways Program, which provides support services to parenting students at Bristol Community College. Using a holistic approach, the Special Programs Coordinator provides direct student support, advocacy, and referrals to assist students in managing the demands of parenting, employment, and family responsibilities while pursuing their education.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop, coordinate, and implement all aspects of the Parenting Pathways Program.
• Assist with program budget planning, administration, and grant management; prepare program budget documents, grant proposals/applications, and spreadsheets.
• Liaise with college departments and offices and collaborate on services, projects, and programs that support Parenting Pathways students.
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with areas across Student Services & Enrollment Management (SSEM) including Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Advising & Success, Basic Needs, and Student Engagement & Belonging to facilitate support for program participants.
• Liaise with various federal, state, and local agencies to develop relationships in support of student success.
• Coordinate the student referral, application, and selection process; prepare needs assessments and action plans with student participants.
• Engage in proactive holistic case management for student participants. Maintain accurate student records in compliance with all college policies. Compile, monitor, and report data related to student engagement and outcomes.
• Provide direct assistance for student participants in navigating social services and safety net programs including but not limited to Transitional Assistance (DTA), Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP), MassHealth, SNAP, Healthy Incentives Program (HIP), WIC, Early Intervention, and MassHire.
• Plan and facilitate workshops and training sessions for student participants; design and implement program events and activities.
• Participate in meetings and professional development activities.
• Attend and participate in requested college events including but not limited to Open Houses, Admitted Students Days, and New Student Orientations.
• Coordinate assigned student staff and volunteers; plan and implement training activities; prioritize, assign, and review work of student staff and volunteers; respond to staff issues and concerns.
• Demonstrate a sense of professionalism and consistently reflect Bristol’s core values while interacting with members of the Bristol community.
• Focus on the Commonwealth’s Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or other field related to area of assignment*
• Minimum three (3) years experience and/or training involving area of assignment, which may include student affairs, student services, student support programs, basic needs, or community engagement.*
*An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience shall be considered.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Demonstrated proficiency with Banner Student Information Systems, DegreeWorks, and/or EAB Navigate.
• Demonstrated experience working in higher education, with a preference for experience working at a community college.
• Experience working with parenting students in a college setting.
• Ability to speak a language in addition to English, with a preference for Spanish or Portuguese.
