Lead Teacher Summer Enrichment Camp
The Middletown Beyond the Bell Summer Enrichment Camp is designed to keep children learning and having fun during the summer with daily recreational activities, arts and crafts, and games, and weekly special events for students who will be entering grades 1-5 in the fall 2023. The Summer Enrichment Camp will be theme based, keeping the summer fresh and exciting. The program offers recreational and thinking activities, designed to strengthen participants’ minds and bodies and keep students active and learning in the summer. Students have the opportunity to explore a variety of planned activities and special events each week. The Middletown Beyond the Bell Summer Enrichment Camp is coordinated with the Middletown Public Schools summer academic intervention program to allow students to access both services as needed.
MCOZ Camp Lead Teacher Camp Lead Teachers will plan and facilitate a variety of high-quality enrichment activities based on a weekly theme, incorporating high-interest, inquiry-based lessons and skill building. Activities must allow students opportunities for independent and group learning and hands-on experiences and include indoor and outdoor activities. Camp Lead Teachers should feel comfortable with open ended activities and changing planned activities based on student interest and ability. Camp Lead Teachers may also be required to participate in a weekly field trip and on-site water activities with their group each week.
Minimum Education Requirements:
Applicants should have a minimum of an Associates degree or 60 college credits with 18 of them in a field related to education, child development, or recreation, plus at least one year of supervised experience working with school-age children in a group setting. A Bachelors Degree related to education, child development, or recreation OR an Associates Degree related to education, child development, or recreation plus two years of supervised experience working with school-age children in a group setting preferred.
Schedule: Pre-Program:
Approximately 2 hours of pre-program training/program orientation to be held prior to program start. 10 hours of pre-program planning Program Weeks: July 10-August 4, 2023
Shift 1 – Full Time, Monday – Friday, 8:00-4:00, plus 2.5 hrs. of planning time. Total of 40 hours per week.
Shift 2 – Full Time. Monday – Friday, 11:30-4:00 Monday-Thursday, Friday, 8:00 am -4:00 pm, plus 2.25 hrs. of planning time. Total of 27.5 hours per week August 7- August 11, 2023, Monday – Friday, 8:00-4:00, plus 2.5 hrs. of planning time. Total of 40 hours per week.
