East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking 1 full-time Family Advocate to work in EBCAP’s Safety Net and Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) programs in our Family Center located in Newport with some travel to Tiverton, and Riverside, RI.  The Rhode Island LIHEAP is federally funded through the US Department of Health and Human Services and provides assistance to income-eligible EBCAP clients in meeting the costs of heating their homes.  The Safety Net program provides community outreach, identification of potential EBCAP clients, assessment, information and referral, goal setting, and self-sufficiency planning according to the benchmark goals established in EBCAP initiatives.  The Family Advocate will meet with individuals and/or families in the office, and in the community to assess and determine appropriate linkages to EBCAP services, including, but not limited to social service wrap-around and treatment services.

EBCAP is offering a two-step sign-on bonus totaling $1,000 for external applicants.

The Family Advocate Safety Net/LIHEAP requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field (Psychology, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, etc.). Prior experience assessing and connecting clients to services is preferred.
