Summer programs offered in Newport and Middletown will include a menu of expanded learning, experiential activities including daily physical activity, and weekly field trips in the community for students who will attend grades 1-5 during the 2022-2023 school year.

SLA will include a menu of expanded learning, experiential activities including daily physical activity, and weekly field trips in the community. Extended day licensed childcare will be available for enrolled participants.

The Teacher Assistant will support the SLA/EL Teachers and SLA Program Facilitators in Newport or Lead Teachers in Middletown with: daily learning and experiential activities, classroom management, and individual student support needs. The TA will also have arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess duties. There are full-day positions and half-day positions available. TA’s may be assigned to a specific classroom or may float between classrooms to support needs as they arise.

Qualifications:

HS Diploma or GED Required
Certified para-educator certification is preferred but not required
Experience working with school-age children in an academic and recreational setting
Experience with positive behavior strategies

Bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese) candidates strongly encouraged to apply

Schedule:

Newport: 6-week program, July 5-August 12, 2022

Full-time Teacher Assistants will work approximately 35 hrs/wk, Mon-Friday, 8:15-3:45 daily

Part-time Teacher Assistants will work approximately 24 hrs/wk, Mon-Thurs, 11:30-3:45, Fri 8:15-3:45

Middletown: 4-week program, July 5 – July 29, 2022

Full-time Teacher Assistants will work approximately 40 hrs/wk, Mon-Friday, 7:45-4:15 daily

Part-time Teacher Assistants will work approximately 29 hrs/wk, Mon-Thurs, 11:00-4:15, Friday, 7:45-4:15
