Class Definition

Within the Office of the Clerk of the Supreme Court, the Opinion Analyst is responsible for the proofing of all drafts and final decisions issued by the Supreme Court of Rhode Island; works closely with Chamber Law Clerks in proofing activities to ensure the accuracy of case citations and statutory references in decisions; conducts reviews of advance sheets and works with post-publication staff to facilitate corrections; acts as liaison to publishers to update Supreme Court information as needed; assists the Office of the Clerk as needed; and any other related duties as may be assigned by the Clerk of the Supreme Court or his or her designee.

Required Qualifications for Appointment

Law degree from an ABA accredited law school required; advanced degree in English or related field preferred.  Must have extensive knowledge of the Uniform System of Citations and superior writing and editing skills; must be self-motivated and scrupulous about detailed work; excellent organizational and communication skills are a must.  Must have previous work experience as an attorney or in editing or its equivalent.
