The Town of Barrington is seeking a part time, third shift police/fire dispatcher.

$18 per hour after training.

General Purpose:  Under the general direction of the Chief and/or Shift Supervisors, the Police/Fire Dispatcher receives citizen requests for assistance, provides radio dispatching services for the Barrington Police and Fire Departments and record keeping duties related to the position.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

Answer incoming emergency and non-emergency telephone calls (8 business lines, 2 emergency lines and 3 emergency 911 lines.
Dispatch public safety personnel and equipment, via radio to calls for service.
Enter and Receive information/data through department computer and records management system (IMC).
Operate Police Department radios- 4 channels and Fire Department radios –2 channels
Greet and assist civilians with reports, copies, directions, etc.
Operate national computer system (RILETS) for license/registration checks, wants, etc.
Acquire a thorough knowledge of the location and layout of streets, town buildings, and other significant areas of the community.
Keep Shift Supervisors abreast of officer activity and calls for service.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Familiarity with computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to work accurately and efficiently.
IMC software or equivalent database software preferred.
