Summary: The Administrator-Staff Accountant is responsible for performing a wide variety of accounting duties supporting United Way of Rhode Island programs. The person in this role requires the ability to take initiative, use independent judgment, support critical customer service to internal and external customers, and a high degree of organizational skills to proactively and successfully manage projects.  Provide direct support to the Controller with limited direction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage and perform the operational aspects of donor-directed accounts payable including setting up, disbursement requests, check processing, voids, acknowledgment letters, timely service, agency research & vetting, balance adjustments, and sweep functionality
Serve as customer service for account holders related to gift inquiries, problems encountered using the portal, and transaction clarification
Quarterly statements and year-end disbursement alerts
Work closely with the Accounting Manager, Campaign to obtain & apply account adjustments promptly.  Reconcile donor-directed accounts balance to the general ledger and Andar monthly
Organize tracking of corporate and multi-year donors
Work collaboratively with the Resource and Engagement team to provide consistent and predictable support in a timely fashion to ensure the highest level of customer service is delivered to donors
Research and resolve outstanding checks that are over 60 days old
Backup for facilities administration
Backup for accounts payable function
Backup for cash receipt processing
Other duties – as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting required
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
Outstanding collaboration skills through effective communication
Deadline driven and extremely organized, reliable and dependable
Have excellent attention to detail and high-level accuracy
Excellent written and grammar skills
Able to maintain confidentiality
